On April 26, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (Expo Chengdu 2024), met with Leonardo Capitanio, President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), and his delegation in Chengdu.

Huang Qiang, on behalf of Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee Wang Xiaohui, the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, and the organizing committee of the Expo Chengdu 2024, welcomed and thanked President Capitano and his delegation, and briefly introduced the development of Sichuan, its floral resources, and related information. Huang Qiang said that under the support and guidance of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the China Flower Association, the Expo Chengdu 2024 was opened successfully. Throughout the ensuing 186-day exhibition period, we are committed to ensuring the successful execution and conclusion of the event, aiming to present a remarkable floral and horticultural exposition. We hope to enhance collaborative research and the sharing of accomplishments in critical areas, such as the conservation of endangered plant species, utilization of botanical resources, and sustainable horticultural practices, in partnership with AIPH's member organizations, foster a two-way talent development pathway and, with the support of the association's global network and influence, collectively explore opportunities in the international horticultural market.

Leonardo Capitano highly appreciated the meticulous preparation and coordinated efforts of all parties invested in the Expo Chengdu. He stated his confidence that the Chengdu exhibition will brings the event to a new standard. He expressed his hope for in-depth collaboration with Sichuan in initiatives like Green City, aiming to effectively spread the power of plants.

Representatives from the AIPH, including Vice President Peng Hongming and Secretary General Tim Briercliffe, attended the meeting. Attendees from the Chinese side include Jiang Zehui, President of the China Flower Association and Chairperson of the Expo Chengdu 2024's Organizing Committee; Zuo Yongxiang, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province; Xu Jide, Deputy Director of the Office of the National Greening Committee; and Zeng Qing, Secretary-General of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, among others.
